2006 saw a total of 3.69 million new passenger vehicles registrations (not including vans & pick-ups). This is the second year-on-year increase over 20% since 2005. After a minor fall in 2004, the Chinese mainland’s auto market is entering a new era of rapid growth.
More than 230 domestic models were on the passenger vehicle market, among which as many as 37 domestic new models were launched. Meanwhile, many traditional models were upgraded, trying to appeal the customer with their new appearance. Which one will appeal most to customers, new, traditional or upgraded models? Towards the end of 2006, this competition was heating up.
